On the way
This series of landscape paintings is born from the road—painted from photographs I’ve taken while traveling through unfamiliar terrain. These are not traditional, scenic landscapes; they are personal impressions, captured in passing, then revisited through memory, emotion, and paint.
Each image begins as a moment that caught my eye on a road trip—something in the light, the vastness, the stillness, or the way the land seemed to hold a certain mood. Through painting, I try to distill what I felt in that moment: a sense of wonder, distance, solitude, or quiet connection to the land.
For me, these landscapes are less about geography and more about inner space. The road becomes a path not just through the physical world, but through shifting emotional states. The openness of the land allows space for reflection, and the painting process becomes a way of slowing down time—of holding onto something fleeting.
In these works, I’m searching for the poetry in the in-between places—fields, skies, roadside horizons—that might otherwise go unnoticed, yet resonate deeply once seen.
